Humans always behave in the way their brain signals them. The behavior exudes permitted emotions to display the world.

Depending on the situations, the emotions will differ. There also situations, rather some extreme or intense situations to which humans respond with multiple emotions, popularly called ‘mixed feelings’.

These mixed feelings can be positive or negative. One such mixed feeling is ‘Frustration’.

As per a perception used in this article, frustration is a mixed feeling of mild anger and disappointment caused due to helplessness or failure. When you feel both angry and disappointed but do not have a way to vent it out, the feeling is called frustration.

You very well, can connect with the feeling of frustration and roughly imagine the visual of you having such a situation.

There is a big range of situations which can have you frustrated. No matter, how big or small the case be, the feeling is the same with differing magnitude. (as per the situation)

Situations differ for people, from walks to walks of life. It occurs to everyone, spares none.

Some situations in life leave you frustrated because you are unable to find a solution to your problem. That doesn’t mean, you will be exempted from the problem. You can’t quit just like that. We will have a better idea with the coming example.

You are in your class ‘X’. You are a little more than average student, not among the toppers or tankers. In some subjects, you are good like mathematics, science, and social sciences. Subjects like languages are your weak points. You are often scolded by your teachers for scoring poor marks in these subjects.

Studying languages is more of a punishment for you. You find difficulty in grasping and memorizing the answers. The school is not going to exempt you from the exams. You are frustrated, still, you have to get going with them.

And when the results are out, you have got a little more than average marks. You have scored in mathematics, science & social sciences while scored much lower in languages(not failed though) which have hit your overall score badly. Similar situations are faced by students in college be it for studies, term work, or projects.

These are the inescapable situations causing you to get frustrated. The only solution for these situations is to understand that they are a temporary part of life. You are not alone.

And there is another category of scenarios which is the main crux of this article. We are going to learn the simplest steps to help ourselves come out of frustration.

Before that, let us put some light on the kind of situations where we feel frustrated and we can relieve ourselves out of it. These kinds of situations are mostly self-induced. They are the outcomes of the choices, we made. Yes, that’s true.

We make such choices. For what? An education, a career, a business, or a relationship. Frustration happens, when things don’t work for you the way you wanted even after trying to make them work so many times.

Now, that you are feeling frustrated because of the choices you have made. We will now try to connect with that feeling with another story example.

You are a fresh graduate, with little or no idea about what to do next. You join the company which selected you during campus placements. The initial few days go smoothly.

Once you have learned the work, you mix up well and settle down. A year passes, you feel bored about your work as you see nothing more to learn and there is no growth. You feel your productive time is getting wasted. You discuss with your manager and he will give nothing but fake promises.

You are frustrated. Simply quitting the company won’t help. You should have something to fall back upon. You never know if you quit the company and join some other, your situation may be worse.

We will now understand the steps to handle frustration and come out of it.

1) Give it a try.

Things are not happening as you tried to work them out. It is not necessary, for the results to come even with the first 10 attempts. You need to be calm, stay focused and persist.

2) Wait for result.

After you put more efforts, you will expect things to improve. It is necessary to have patience for the results and at the same time have back up plans.

3) Take a break.

Even after repeated attempts and efforts you struggle. It is necessary to calm down and think objectively. For that, you can take a break from that. Try to stay away from the chaos and take your time.

4) Rejuvenate.

You can indulge in some activities which give your mind the necessary relaxation. It can be a tea or coffee, a movie outing or even a vacation. These activities will rejuvenate your mind to make a good comeback after the break.

5) Make a decision.

There also comes a time in our lives, we start having doubts about the choices we made. Humans make mistakes, only to learn from them and you know that. Unfortunately, the situation leads us to have second thoughts. You now have to reconsider the choices you made in the beginning which lead you here. You are not sure of your goals anymore.

You ask questions to yourself. “Am I serious about this?”, “Am I meant for this?”, “Is this the goal I want to achieve?” The answers are either yes or no. If the answer is yes, then you are on the right path. If no, you need to change your goal and path.

6) Reconsider.

A phase comes where you have realized, what you considered to be your goal, isn’t meant for you. Your goal is something and somewhere else. This is a revelation for you. It takes lots of courage to accept this fact and set out for a new journey.

Just because you are reconsidering your goals and objectives doesn’t imply that you gave up previously.

Whether to go with what you chose or choose to go with something different which you like, you have to keep moving ahead.
